Vision Quest Mundi, 2017

A blind puffin, a decoy carved from wood found on the roadside, felt flag with yarn embroidery, trash bags covered in papier mache. Bird is superimposed into the tower at Hallgrimskirkja.

A woman walking in Reykjavík stumbles upon a puffin who was hit by a car. She takes it to a veterinarian, who pronounces the bird blind. The vet suggests they put the bird down, but the woman decides to take it home and nurse it back to health. She names it Guđmundur, but calls it 'Mundi' for short, because it rhymes with 'lundi', the Icelandic word for puffin. Several news sources become interested in their story. She creates a social media page for Mundi, which attracts a global audience of animal enthusiasts.
